The Deoksugung Palace Management Office announced on April 27 that it will operate the program "Worlds Met at Seokjojeon" every Sunday at 2 p.m. throughout May at Jeonggwanheon and the Korean Empire History Hall in Seokjojeon, with participation open to children and their families.
This program, which has been held since 2018, allows participants to directly experience and learn about the history and culture of the Korean Empire. Children who join will study the diplomatic situation of the Korean Empire and tour Seokjojeon, which served as a diplomatic space. They will then take on the roles of the emperor and diplomats to participate in a reenactment of the Korean Empire Emperor's audience ceremony. The program also includes a board game themed around the foreign legation spaces that once existed in the Jeong-dong area. The audience ceremony is a ritual in which officials paid respects to the emperor of the Korean Empire.
The program is open to families with children in 4th and 5th grade of elementary school.
