Jeongeup City in Jeollabuk-do Special Self-Governing Province has begun operating a public late-night pharmacy to reduce gaps in access to medications during late-night hours and public holidays.
According to Jeongeup City on April 26, the Jeongeup City Public Health Center has designated Saemgol Pharmacy, located in Suseong-dong, as a public late-night pharmacy. This allows residents to purchase necessary medications even during late hours or on holidays. The public late-night pharmacy system is designed to address situations where access to medications is difficult at night or on public holidays, and it plays a role in ensuring prompt access to pharmaceuticals in emergencies.
This pharmacy operates year-round and is open daily from 9:00 p.m. to midnight. A pharmacist is always present to provide medication guidance, helping to reduce misuse and ensure safe consumption. However, due to internal circumstances, the pharmacy may take one or two voluntary days off per month, so it is recommended to call ahead to confirm operating hours before visiting.
Son Heekyung, head of the city’s Public Health Center, stated, "We will continue to do our best to minimize inconvenience for residents purchasing medications during late-night hours and to ensure they can purchase them with peace of mind."
