Kim Boo-gyeom Opens Campaign Office: "Daegu Must Scold People Power Party to Survive"

About 50 Pro-Government Figures and Party Leaders Attend the Event

Kim Boo-gyeom, the Democratic Party candidate for Daegu mayor, held the opening ceremony of his election office on April 26 in Dalseo-gu, Daegu, with full support from the broader pro-government bloc.

At the ceremony, Kim said, "Daegu was the first city to face a crisis during the COVID-19 pandemic, but citizens endured it through restraint and solidarity. That is the steadfastness of Daegu citizens."

Targeting the People Power Party, he remarked, "Is the mayor's office a place for fighting? If the mayor is busy fighting, who will do the work?" He continued, "This time, let Kim Boo-gyeom be the stick that disciplines them. Make the People Power Party come to its senses." He added, "Only if Daegu scolds the People Power Party this time will the country survive. That way, Korean politics will get back on track, and above all, Daegu will thrive."

Meanwhile, about 50 current and former National Assembly members from the broader pro-government camp, including the Democratic Party leadership as well as the Cho Kuk Innovation Party and independents, attended the ceremony.

In his congratulatory speech, Representative Chung Cheong-rae said, "Kim Boo-gyeom is the one for whom we have been most anxious and have made repeated requests to run in this local election. He is our top star marketing strategy, our sure-win card." He added, "We will give full support in the name of the party to the robot capital project, the transition to artificial intelligence (AI), and the new TK airport."

Former President Moon Jae-in, in a video message, said, "Like the late 'fool' Roh Moo-hyun, Kim Boo-gyeom never took the easy road and was undaunted even when he faced setbacks due to regionalism. I ask the people of Daegu to now embrace Kim Boo-gyeom," adding, "Please help Kim Boo-gyeom grow so he can contribute even more to Daegu."
