On April 26, candidate Kim posted on his Facebook a note titled "Sneaker Command," stating, "A citizen sent me a pair of sneakers. There was a letter inside the box."

In the letter made public, the citizen revealed that they had lived in Daegu for 25 years and wrote, "I would never choose a candidate based on party affiliation. I choose you because of who you are, Kim Boo-kyum."

Kim said, "The letter is three pages long, but it seems I started to tear up from the second page," adding, "I called the sender personally to first express my gratitude."

He continued, "When I politely asked if I could share the letter, the sender readily said, 'Of course.' In return, I promised: I will not stop until these sneakers are worn out and gone."

He pledged, "I have received an order from citizen Park Siyoun. I, Kim Boo-kyum, will carry out that command."

Meanwhile, on the afternoon of April 26, candidate Kim held an opening ceremony for his campaign office in Duryu-dong, Dalseo-gu, Daegu. The event was attended by Democratic Party leader Jeong Cheongrae, other party leaders, and around 50 current and former Democratic Party lawmakers.

On the same day, as Choo Kyungho was confirmed as the People Power Party's candidate for Daegu mayor, Kim is now expected to compete against Assemblyman Choo in the main election.
