Resident Registration Certificate Issuance Fee Waived During High Oil Price Relief Payment Application Period

Issuance Fee of 200-400 Won for In-Person Service at Community Centers
Temporarily Waived During First and Second Exemption Periods

Until July, the issuance fee for resident registration certificates and abstracts will be temporarily waived if they are issued for the purpose of applying for the High Oil Price Relief Payment.

The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced on April 26 that, to reduce the public burden during the application process for the High Oil Price Relief Payment, the issuance fee for resident registration certificates and abstracts will be temporarily exempted.

The first exemption period will run from April 27 to May 8, and the second exemption period will run from May 18 to July 3.

Previously, applicants had to pay a fee of 400 won per copy when visiting a community service center in person, and 200 won per copy when using a self-service civil document issuance machine. With this measure, resident registration certificates and abstracts can be issued without any fee during the specified periods, whether issued in-person or via a self-service machine.

To receive the fee exemption, applicants must request the document at the community service center for the purpose of applying for the High Oil Price Relief Payment, or use the self-service issuance machine to obtain a certificate or abstract for themselves or a household member.

In addition, if applicants agree to have their personal information verified through joint use of administrative data, it is possible to confirm the relevant information without submitting separate certificates or abstracts. This also enables a simpler process for proxy applications and appeals.

Minister of the Interior and Safety Yoon Hojung stated, "We will continue to carefully monitor the process, including on-site application services, so that citizens do not face difficulties when applying. We will do our utmost to ensure that the High Oil Price Relief Payment serves as a reliable support for the public."
