The Ministry of the Interior and Safety will begin the first round of high oil price support fund payments starting at 9 a.m. on April 27. It announced that, during the first week of applications, a day-of-the-week system will be applied based on the last digit of an applicant's year of birth.

For the first round, recipients of basic livelihood security will receive 550,000 won per person, while those in the next-lowest income group and single-parent families will receive 450,000 won per person. Residents living outside the Seoul metropolitan area or in population-declining regions will receive an additional 50,000 won per person.

The first round of support funds can be applied for both online and offline from 9 a.m. on April 27 until 6 p.m. on May 8, for approximately two weeks. Recipients can select their preferred payment method: credit card, debit card, prepaid card, or regional gift certificate.

Applicants who are unable to apply for the support fund during the first round may also apply during the second round, which will run from May 18 to July 3.

In the first week of the application period, to prevent system overload, the day-of-the-week system will be enforced based on the last digit of the applicant's year of birth. On April 27, those whose year of birth ends in 1 or 6 may apply; on April 28, those ending in 2 or 7; and on April 29, those ending in 3 or 8. As May 1 is designated as Labor Day and a public holiday, applications will be accepted on April 30 from those whose year of birth ends in 4 or 9, as well as those ending in 5 or 0.

The high oil price support fund can be used for more than four months, until August 31. Residents of metropolitan cities and special cities (including Sejong and Jeju) may use the funds within their respective city, while those in provincial areas may use them in the city or county corresponding to their registered address.

Procedures have also been established for appeals and the handling of objections for those who have concerns about the selection results or the amount of support. The appeal submission period will run from June 18 to July 17.

Appeals can be submitted online through the e-People portal or offline at local administrative welfare centers, with the same day-of-the-week system based on the last digit of the year of birth applied during the first week, just as with the support fund applications.

For further inquiries about the high oil price support fund, citizens can contact the Government Civil Service Call Center (110). In addition, tailored consultations on application and payment procedures, usage locations, and other cases are available at the dedicated high oil price support fund call center, which opened on April 24, as well as at local government call centers.
