Gyeonggi Province Expands Youth Borderline Intelligence Work Competency Enhancement Project to Public Sector

Gyeonggi Province will expand the work experience sites for the Youth Borderline Intelligence Work Competency Enhancement Support Project from a private sector focus to include public institutions.

The Youth Borderline Intelligence Work Competency Enhancement Support Project is an integrated program that goes beyond one-off training and connects career exploration, job training, on-site internships, and post-program management.

In its first year last year, 76 participants joined the program, with 18 gaining internship experience; among them, 9 achieved actual employment. Eight private companies and cooperatives provided work experience opportunities.

This year, Gyeonggi Province has secured the Gyeonggi Lifelong Education Promotion Institute and Gyeonggi Library as new work experience sites to enable participating youths to gain job experience in a more stable environment and build social adaptation skills through collaboration with organizational members.

This year's internships will take place from September to November, and out of a total of 25 on-site internship participants, 10 will be assigned to public institutions. Job mentors will be present at the sites to support adaptation to the work environment.

Recruitment of participants will be conducted in May through a separate announcement by the Gyeonggi Future Generation Foundation, the organization entrusted with operating the program.

Hong Seongdeok, Head of Lifelong Education at Gyeonggi Province, stated, "Starting with this connection to public institutions, we plan to further expand work experience opportunities to various public and private sectors in the future," adding, "We will continue to provide even more comprehensive support in connection with the 'Borderline Intelligence Lifelong Education Support Center,' which is scheduled to open in the second half of the year."
