Hyundai Department Store announced on April 26 that it held the first planting event for the eco-friendly donation project 'My Garden Care' at Seoul Forest in Seongsu-dong, Seongdong-gu, Seoul.
'My Garden Care' is an urban greening project in which customers select one of eight gardens to donate to, and Hyundai Department Store supports half of the cost.
On the 25th, at Seoul Forest located in Seongsu-dong, Seongdong-gu, Seoul, about 50 people including customers who participated in the garden donation, employees and families of Hyundai Department Store, as well as officials from the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Life Forest organization, took a commemorative photo after the first planting of the eco-friendly donation project 'My Garden Care.' 원본보기 아이콘At the event, more than 50 people-including customers who participated in the donation, Hyundai Department Store employees and their families, as well as officials from Seoul City and the Korea Forest Service-planted about 2,000 trees and herbaceous plants together. The company plans to plant an additional 2,000 plants, including herbaceous perennials and seasonal flowers, by April 28.
The 'Green Friends Garden,' created through this project and covering approximately 800 square meters (242 pyeong), will be unveiled at the 2026 Seoul International Garden Expo, which opens on May 1. To ensure that citizens can continue to use the space freely, facilities such as benches and lighting will be installed, and customer-participation gardening programs will be held regularly.
Yang Myungseong, Executive Vice President in charge of business strategy at Hyundai Department Store, said, "The Green Friends Garden is a meaningful garden created together by customers and employees, and it represents Hyundai Department Store's ESG values." He added, "We will continue to share eco-friendly values and further expand our ESG initiatives."
