Lotte Mart, operated by Lotte Shopping, is ramping up efforts to attract foreign tourists during the global “golden holiday” period spanning from the end of April to early May. This period overlaps with Korea’s Family Month holidays, Japan’s Golden Week (April 29 to May 6), and the Labor Day holidays in China and Taiwan (May 1 to May 5), marking a peak season when shopping demand from Korea, China, and Japan surges simultaneously. In fact, during the same period last year (April 29 to May 6), Lotte Mart’s sales to foreign customers increased by more than 100% year-on-year.
To start, Lotte Mart has designed a range of benefits tailored to every step of the customer journey, from travel preparation to in-store visits. In collaboration with the Japanese online travel platform “Konest,” it is offering pre-arrival discount coupons, and guests staying at Lotte City Hotel Gimpo Airport receive exclusive discount vouchers. In stores, Lotte Mart is also running convenient payment promotions. Customers using Line Pay will receive special coupons through May 15, and those paying with WeChat Pay can receive an instant discount of up to 88 yuan until May 10.
Stores with high foreign visitor traffic are also preparing gifts. Starting April 28, customers who spend at least 70,000 won at the Zeta Plex Seoul Station branch and the Gwangbok branch will receive a luggage tag on a first-come, first-served basis. At the Seoul Station branch, those spending over 100,000 won will also receive a travel tote bag. From May 11, both branches will reward foreign customers who spend over 70,000 won with a special “Lotte Mart × Jin Air Folding Tote Bag.”
Product promotions have also been strengthened. The exclusive “Cheongwoo Chewy Choco Chip Strawberry (240g)” has been re-released at a 30% discount, and the “Cheongwoo Chewy Choco Chip (20g × 12 pack)” is being offered as a buy-one-get-one-free deal. The “Nongshim Bread Manager Series (each 55g)” is available in bundle discounts. In the ramen section, “Bibigo Oh My God Japchae (77.26g)” will be launched early on April 30, with a 2+1 promotion running through May 6. At the Seoul Station and Gwangbok branches, purchasing two or more packs of “Shin Ramyun Tomba (137g × 4)” or “Bogeul Bogeul Budae Jjigae Noodle (127g × 4)” will grant a 10% discount.
The beauty and health category has also seen expanded benefits. Forty-five types of mask packs, including “Mediheal Collagen Essential Mask (5 sheets)” and “Banobagi Skin Booster Mask Pack Brightening (5 sheets),” are available as buy-one-get-one-free. Popular brands such as VT and Banobagi are discounted by up to 53%. At the Seoul Station branch, Lotte Mart is newly introducing “Nutrione Olive Lemon Dual Shot (20g × 10 packets).”
Yoon Yeoryeong, Head of Promotion Marketing Team at Lotte Mart and Super, said, “This holiday period is when demand from foreign tourists is most concentrated, so we have enhanced our benefits through a variety of partnerships and promotions. As Korea’s leading shopping landmark, we will continue to create stores that global customers want to revisit, with differentiated products and benefits.”
