Jeollanam-do Operates On-site Application Service for High Oil Price Compensation for Vulnerable Groups

Support for Residents of Facilities for the Homeless, Elderly, and Disabled Until May 8

Jeollanam-do announced that it will operate an “on-site facility visit application” service at residential facilities for the elderly, persons with disabilities, and other vulnerable groups from April 27 to May 8, in order to provide high oil price compensation payments to those affected in vulnerable groups.

Starting April 27, in line with the nationwide advance payment of high oil price compensation for the vulnerable, city and county officials will visit the facilities directly and handle applications and payments for residents who have difficulty applying online or visiting town and township community centers.

The target facilities include a total of 445 sites, such as facilities for the homeless, the elderly, persons with disabilities, those with mental illness, and Hansen's disease patients, covering 15,493 people. Basic livelihood security recipients will receive up to 600,000 won per person, while those in the near-poor and single-parent households will receive 500,000 won per person.

To ensure smooth implementation, Jeollanam-do has guided relevant facilities on the “on-site application” system and pre-coordinated visit schedules using phone calls, social media, and official documents with the 22 cities and counties and townships from April 21.

Jung Gwangsun, Director of Health and Welfare at Jeollanam-do, said, “In this situation, where the difficulties for vulnerable groups are expected to be the greatest due to high oil prices, we hope this support payment will be of help to facility residents,” adding, “We will provide detailed support throughout the application and payment process to ensure that all eligible individuals receive their benefits without exception.”

Jeollanam-do also plans to ensure that in cases where there is no guardian or the beneficiary has mobility issues and cannot use the compensation directly, the facility will use the funds appropriately for residents and conduct monitoring accordingly.
