First Female Senior Official at the Financial Services Commission: Lee Seokran Promoted to Director General

For the first time since the establishment of the Financial Services Commission, a woman has been appointed as a senior official (Director General).

On April 24, the Financial Services Commission promoted Lee Seokran, former director (Deputy Director General) at the Commission, to the position of senior official and assigned her to the position of Director General of the Social and Economic Bureau at the Government Joint Anti-Corruption Promotion Team under the Office for Government Policy Coordination.

This is the first time a woman has become a senior official at the Financial Services Commission since its launch in 2008.

Born in 1977, Director General Lee graduated from the Department of Business Administration at Yonsei University and entered public service after passing the 44th Higher Civil Service Examination. She has since served in key positions, including Director of Microfinance, Director of Industrial Finance, Director of Financial Innovation, and Director of Capital Market Investigation at the Financial Services Commission. In 2015, she became the Commission's first female head of public relations. Until recently, she had been seconded to the Korea Institute of Finance.
