This primary served as a fierce policy competition to find the right person to design Namyangju’s future, and the final result was a victory for Hyunduk Choi, the “well-prepared, highly skilled administrator.”

Immediately after being confirmed as the candidate, Choi shared his thoughts, saying, “Today’s victory does not belong to Hyunduk Choi alone, but is the great choice of our citizens and party members who yearn for Namyangju’s transformation.” He emphasized, “Now, moving beyond the time of competition, it is time for everyone to unite as one ‘melting pot one team’ toward victory in the general election.”

Choi made a point of expressing his gratitude by mentioning by name fellow preliminary candidates Wonho Lee, Yongsu Yoon, Jihoon Kim, Hanjung Kim, and Jooseon Paek, who have worked together to envision Namyangju’s future during the primary process.

Choi stated, “Wonho Lee, Yongsu Yoon, and Jihoon Kim were the first to join together for Namyangju’s development right after the main primary, and I sincerely thank them as precious allies.” He went on to say to Hanjung Kim, who fiercely competed until the end, “It was an honor to run alongside such an outstanding senior politician. Along with my regret over the result, I deeply respect your dedication, and I will carry on your policy ideas with care.” Regarding Jooseon Paek, Choi added, “I will fully incorporate the vision you had for Namyangju into our campaign committee and open the path to victory together.”

Choi also expressed his deep trust in the dedicated encouragement and support from the National Assembly members representing Namyangju’s Gap, Eul, and Byung districts. He described Assemblyman Byungjoo Kim as “a steadfast supporter who tirelessly traveled throughout Namyangju with me, generously offering insightful advice on local issues.”

He also thanked Assemblyman Yongmin Kim for “providing unwavering encouragement and support for Namyangju’s transformation throughout the primary together with city and provincial council members.” Regarding Assemblywoman Minhee Choi, he said, “The passion and energy you displayed during the primary are invaluable assets to our party. I trust that you will now gather that passion to power victory for all of Namyangju, beyond just the Gap district, and I will rely on your drive as a pillar for victory in the general election.”

Choi, a former successful candidate in the government administration examination, has served as policy chief for Gyeonggi Province and as deputy mayor of Namyangju, establishing himself as a “field expert.” He declared, “Namyangju must now go beyond being a special city of one million and leap forward as the true economic hub of Gyeonggi Province.” He added, “By uniting my experience as an administrative expert with the combined energy of the five candidates and local National Assembly members, I will secure victory in the general election and create a happier Namyangju for our citizens.”

Having been confirmed as the Democratic Party of Korea’s candidate for Namyangju mayor, Hyunduk Choi will now honor the will of Namyangju’s citizens by swiftly forming a unified election campaign committee and officially launching his general election campaign.
