SL, established in 1954, is an automotive parts manufacturer specializing in lamp systems, electrification systems, mirror systems, and front end modules (FEM).

During the event, Kyungpook National University received an overview of the latest mobility technology trends and changes in the industrial environment, and exchanged views on talent development and directions for research and development collaboration.
Following this, participants visited SL’s new product exhibition hall and Jinryang Plant Building A to observe key production sites, assess the potential for industrial application of research achievements, and review strategies for providing hands-on field education for students.
Additionally, Kyungpook National University proposed establishing a 'University-Company Joint Research Institute' to yield tangible results from industry-academia cooperation, and both parties agreed to further discuss the feasibility of this initiative.
They also reached a consensus on the need to foster talent rooted in the region through a field-linked education and research system involving both the university and the company.
SL agreed on the necessity of a seamless structure connecting talent development, education, research, and employment that reflects industry needs. The company committed to ongoing collaboration in various areas, including the operation of field-oriented educational programs and strengthening career and employment linkages.
President Yeongwoo Heo of Kyungpook National University said, "This workshop was a meaningful occasion to share the direction of industry-academia cooperation in line with government policies and to lay the groundwork for growth alongside the local industry. We will faithfully reflect the demands of regional strategic industries in education and research, creating a virtuous cycle where talent nurtured at the university settles in the region and leads industrial innovation."
