This payment marks the first project to be carried out approximately two months after the financial business agreement for the fund was signed at the Gyeonggi Textile Support Center in Yangju at the end of February.

A total of 41 companies from the northern Gyeonggi region have participated in the Gyeonggi Joint Labor Welfare Fund No. 4. In Dongducheon City, 136 workers from 10 local companies have been included in the initial list of beneficiaries.

The support amount is 1.2 million won per worker annually. The grants are distributed in installments timed with Labor Day and the Lunar New Year and Chuseok holidays. The payments are provided in local currency that can only be used within the region, which is expected to contribute to revitalizing the local economy, including boosting sales for small businesses.

The city expects that this support will not only increase workers' real income and improve their quality of life but also help prevent workforce attrition, a chronic issue for small and medium-sized enterprises. Furthermore, by strengthening welfare benefits, the city anticipates greater worker satisfaction, the promotion of long-term employment, and enhanced corporate competitiveness.

An official from Dongducheon City stated, "It is even more meaningful to provide the first round of support funds on Labor Day, a symbolic occasion, following the signing of the business agreement. Through the joint labor welfare fund, we aim to improve workers' quality of life and foster an environment where companies and the local economy grow together in a virtuous cycle."
