Ryu Jemyung, Second Vice Minister of the Ministry of Science and ICT, held a 'University ICT Research Center (ITRC) Youth Talent Meeting' on April 24 with young talents active in the fields of artificial intelligence (AI) and information and communication technology (ICT). During the meeting, he shared the experiences of young talents who achieved outstanding results and listened to their challenges in the field.


This meeting was a key event of the 'ITRC Talent Development Festival 2026,' held from April 22 to April 24. It was organized for young master's and doctoral students who have participated in the 'University ICT Research Center,' 'Regional Intelligence Innovation Talent Development,' and 'ICT Masterpiece Talent Development' programs.


The meeting was attended by senior young professionals who previously participated in the ITRC program, including Professor Han Insu from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) and Yu Sangyoon, CEO of Aim Intelligence, as well as 13 current master's and doctoral students participating in the ITRC program.


Professor Han introduced the case of developing the 'TurboQuant' technology, which improves memory efficiency of AI models through collaboration with global research institutes, based on his experience with the ITRC. He shared his experience in leading the development of the core algorithm during the global research collaboration and emphasized the importance of international joint research in producing world-class research outcomes.


CEO Yu shared his experience of founding a startup in the generative AI security sector after participating in the ITRC, successfully collaborating with and attracting investment from global big tech companies. In particular, he discussed how he demonstrated the business potential and growth prospects of his startup by commercializing the technology he had researched for large-scale investment attraction.


Vice Minister Ryu stated, "Master's and doctoral talents who will lead the future of our AI and ICT are the core pillars supporting national competitiveness. By thoroughly analyzing the growth process of young talents who have achieved outstanding results, we will strengthen support to help even more young people grow into world-class leaders."
