This session was designed to help seniors who typically feel uncomfortable using kiosks (unmanned terminals) gain confidence in handling these devices in their daily lives. Rather than simply explaining from the front, the instructors distributed tablet PCs to each participant so they could learn by directly touching the screens, and provided a 1:1 hands-on learning experience by having each senior follow step-by-step using an actual kiosk installed at the front of the classroom. This approach received an enthusiastic response.
The “Mobile Digital School” includes not only this kiosk training but also topics essential for seniors, such as smartphone usage, searching for information on tablets, voice phishing prevention, and personal information protection. The program consists of a total of six sessions.
This warm and welcoming learning space, which visits village halls and community centers, is becoming a reliable guide for rural seniors who might otherwise be left behind in the era of digital transformation.
An official from Yeoju City said, “We feel deeply rewarded to see seniors becoming more confident in front of machines,” adding, “Through the training sessions that will continue until May, we will do our utmost to ensure that every senior in Yeoju City can fully enjoy daily life in the digital world.”
