"Preventing Casualties" Vice Mayor Kim Jehong of Sacheon Conducts Intensive Inspection of Disaster-Prone Areas

Joint Public-Private Inspection Team Formed

Immediate On-Site Corrective Actions Implemented

Sacheon City in South Gyeongsang Province conducted a preliminary on-site inspection of areas at risk of casualties on April 23, 2026, as a proactive measure to respond to natural disasters during the summer season.

This inspection was carried out jointly by Vice Mayor Kim Jehong, officials from disaster safety departments, and private sector experts.

The inspection targets included areas designated as natural disaster risk improvement zones, steep slopes at risk of collapse, and sites of disaster prevention projects-locations considered vulnerable to damage from heavy rainfall during the monsoon season and typhoons.

The inspection team focused on reviewing the progress of work at each site, the management status of safety facilities, and the functioning of drainage systems. For any deficiencies identified, immediate corrective actions were instructed on site.

This inspection was implemented in advance of the summer natural disaster response period (from May 15 to October 15) and aimed to strengthen preparedness, with a particular focus on disaster prevention in the context of climate change and abnormal weather patterns.

A city official stated, "When it comes to natural disasters, advance preparation and swift response are most important. We will continue thorough inspections and management of vulnerable areas to create a safe environment where citizens can feel secure."
