Gangbuk-gu in Seoul (Mayor Lee Sunhee) is recruiting participants for the "2026 Youth Challenge Project" from April 24 to May 22. This initiative is designed to help young people implement projects that they have planned themselves.
The target participants are groups or organizations consisting of at least three people aged 19 to 39 who either reside in Gangbuk-gu or are active in the district. Selected teams will receive project funding of up to 5 million won, with the exact amount varying depending on the content and scale of the project.
There are four categories for project proposals: discovering youth culture and revitalizing communities, supporting single-person youth households and reclusive youth, improving youth safety and welfare, and operating programs using Samyang Youth Center 2nd Branch. Projects targeting unspecified regions outside Gangbuk-gu, or those for simple social gatherings or commercial purposes, are not eligible to apply.
Teams wishing to apply should download the application form, proposal, and execution plan from the Gangbuk-gu Office website and submit them via email (j0427@gangbuk.go.kr). After submission, applicants must confirm receipt by contacting the Youth Employment and Policy Team (02-901-2643). The results of the first screening will be announced on June 8. After a second round of evaluation, successful applicants will be individually notified at the end of July.
Lee Sunhee, Mayor of Gangbuk-gu, said, "The innovative efforts of young people will bring new vitality to the local community," adding, "We will continue to expand policies that allow youth to take a leading role in participation."
