'Jandiro' Opens, Connecting Mapo365 Resident Center to the Han River

Mapo-gu in Seoul will open "Jandiro," a green pedestrian path connecting the Mapo365 Resident Center and Hangang Park. The completion ceremony will be held at 10:30 a.m. on April 24. The project site covers state-owned land in the area of 361 Sangsu-dong and five other lots. The area measures 3,820 square meters, featuring grass lawns and a pedestrian walkway paved with basalt stone slabs.

Although the Mapo365 Resident Center and the Han River are close by, there was previously no direct path linking them. Residents had to take a long detour to reach the Han River. With the opening of Jandiro, this inconvenience has been resolved. The concept of the project is "a path toward the Han River, stepping on grass." It was designed not just as a simple passage, but as an urban oasis where people can relax within the city.

The project was completed after two years of discussions. Since 2024, Mapo-gu has emphasized the need for a grass-type pedestrian link and continued consultations with organizations such as the Future Hangang Headquarters and the Hangang River Basin Environmental Office to utilize the state-owned land. Construction was finished this month. As the Mapo365 Resident Center, Red Road, and Hangang waterfront area now form a continuous flow, the district's cultural and leisure space is expected to expand further.

An official from the district said, "With the creation of Jandiro, residents will be able to enjoy the Han River more easily and conveniently in their daily lives," adding, "We will continue to expand pedestrian environments that naturally connect the Han River with everyday life."
