Lotte Hotel Hosts "Gujeolpan Experience Dinner" for Ambassadors to Korea... Leading Cultural Diplomacy with K-Food

Korean Cuisine Cultural Exchange Program Highlights the Value of Diversity
Hands-On Dinner Fosters Friendship Among International Guests

Lotte Hotel & Resorts announced on the 24th that it hosted the "Gujeolpan Experience Dinner Event" on the 20th at the Athenae Garden in Lotte Hotel Seoul, inviting ambassadors to Korea from about 20 countries, including the UAE, Qatar, Brazil, the Philippines, and Malaysia.

This event was the second Korean cuisine cultural exchange program, following the kimchi-making experience held in November last year to commemorate "Kimchi Day." It was designed to introduce the meaning of diversity and harmony through Gujeolpan, a traditional dish featuring various ingredients, and to expand international exchange at the private level.

The event began with an explanation of the origins and characteristics of Gujeolpan, as well as the symbolism of the five cardinal colors (Obangsaek). A Korean cuisine chef then demonstrated how to make wheat pancakes, after which participants had the opportunity to make their own Gujeolpan using a variety of ingredients. The table that created the most well-balanced Gujeolpan was awarded a strawberry cake from Lotte Hotel's bakery, Delica Hans.

Participants experienced the flavors and composition of Korean cuisine firsthand by sampling various ingredients and fermented sauces. During the dinner, a Korean course meal featuring seasonal vegetables and braised short ribs (Galbijjim), among other dishes, was served, naturally encouraging conversation and exchange among attendees.

After the event, all participants received kimchi stew and red bean bread as commemorative gifts.

A representative from Lotte Hotel & Resorts stated, "Recently, there has been growing interest and positive feedback regarding Gujeolpan at Mugunghwa, Lotte Hotel Seoul's Korean restaurant, which led us to organize this event. We plan to continue promoting Korean cuisine and culture through a variety of cultural exchange programs in the future."
