The Gyeonggi Provincial Library is operating a participatory creative space called the "Book Workshop," where residents of the province can directly plan and produce their own books.
Located on Basement Level 1 of the library, the Book Workshop is a multi-purpose creative space where participants can experience the entire book-making process, from writing and editing to design, printing, and binding. Even beginners can take part, as the program is conducted step by step under the guidance of professional instructors. It supports creative activities in a variety of genres, including poetry, essays, and picture books.
Completed books are used for exhibitions, book talks, and archiving within the library.
The Book Workshop is operated in conjunction with a literary author collaboration program. It will reflect various needs by offering both ongoing participation programs and process-oriented courses run for a set period of time.
Yun Myeonghee, Director of Gyeonggi Provincial Library, said, "The Book Workshop is a space where residents can take the lead in creative work and complete their own stories as a book. We will continue to expand a creative, reading-based culture that records and shares the lives of local residents."
