The Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) announced on April 23 that it hosted the "KOTRA-GE Aerospace Day" event at JW Marriott Hotel in Seocho-gu, Seoul, on April 21, supporting cooperation between Korea and the United States in the defense supply chain sector.
Nine representatives from GE Aerospace, a leading global aircraft engine company, visited Korea to attend the event, along with representatives from 23 domestic aerospace and defense companies.
On the day of the event, GE Aerospace held a briefing session to share development trends in key areas such as avionics, power systems, engines, additive manufacturing, and aerospace communications technology. The company also introduced opportunities for collaboration with Korean firms.
In the subsequent business meeting, GE Aerospace conducted one-on-one export consultations with nine Korean companies that had been selected through a prior review of their technological and product capabilities.
A GE Aerospace representative stated, "For the past 50 years, we have provided advanced, proven engine technology and expertise, and have maintained close cooperation with Korean companies as a partner in Korea's aviation industry. We hope to continue growing together as an influential partner in the aviation industry ecosystem."
Kwanmook Kim, Vice President and Head of Economic Security and Trade Cooperation at KOTRA, said, "With the advancement of AI-based aerospace and defense technologies accelerating the reorganization of the global supply chain, this is a pivotal turning point for our companies. We will continue to actively support domestic companies in joining the global aerospace supply chain."
