The heads of related departments, relevant agencies, and the service provider KG Engineering Comprehensive Architects Office Co., Ltd. were in attendance. Participants engaged in in-depth discussions about the direction for establishing statutory plans in three areas that will serve as milestones for Yeoju City's future transportation policy.
The statutory plans to be established through this project include the "5th Local Public Transportation Plan & Local Transportation Vulnerable Groups Mobility Improvement Plan (2027-2031)" and the "Sustainable Local Transportation and Logistics Development Plan (2027-2036)." All three statutory plans will be integrated into a single unified plan. This strategic choice aims to strengthen organic linkages among the individual plans and maximize policy synergy, while also reducing overlapping budgets and streamlining administrative procedures that could arise from separate planning processes.
In particular, this project will additionally establish the "Sustainable Local Transportation and Logistics Development Plan (2027-2036)," which is expected to provide Yeoju City with a sustainable mid- to long-term transportation and logistics system tailored to local conditions, encompassing both public transportation and carbon neutrality goals.
Through this project, Yeoju City plans to introduce a new "Ttokbus" service and reorganize routes for a more efficient public transportation system suited to local needs. The city will also develop specific, actionable measures to ensure mobility rights for transportation vulnerable groups such as senior citizens. In addition, Yeoju will work to build an eco-friendly transportation and logistics system and smart infrastructure to promote carbon neutrality.
Vice Mayor Kim Gwangdeok (Acting Mayor of Yeoju) emphasized, "Transportation is the most fundamental welfare directly linked to citizens' lives," and added, "Through this project, we must conduct thorough field investigations not only of city and intercity buses but also of bus stop facilities, in order to fundamentally resolve inconveniences in public transportation and rigorously guarantee the mobility rights of transportation vulnerable groups."
He also stated, "By establishing a sustainable transportation and logistics system, we will practice carbon neutrality and establish practical transportation plans that Yeoju citizens can truly experience."
