The Goheung County Educational Development Committee (Chairman: Gong Youngmin) has announced the launch of the "Overseas Study Support Program for Future Talents," aimed at fostering global core talent in strategic industries that will lead the region's future.
This program is designed to nurture experts with world-class knowledge in the fields of space and aerospace, drones, and smart agriculture, fisheries, and livestock-sectors that Goheung County is prioritizing. The objective is for these talents to play a pivotal role in the county's future development.
Eligible candidates include students who are planning to enroll in master's or doctoral programs at foreign universities, specifically in Goheung's strategic industries: space and aerospace, drones, and smart agriculture, fisheries, and livestock. A total of two students-one from each field-will be selected and supported through this program.
Each selected scholar will receive a scholarship of 30 million won per year, allowing them to focus on their studies. The support period is up to two years (four semesters), with each recipient eligible for up to 60 million won in total. This scale of support is considered exceptional among local governments.
Goheung County plans not only to provide tuition support, but also to explore systematic management and linkage measures so that the talents who complete their studies abroad can effectively contribute to the county's strategic industries.
In particular, the county aims to actively utilize these professionals in its future strategic industries, such as by establishing an aerospace cluster connected to the Naro Space Center and expanding advanced agriculture through the Smart Farm Innovation Valley.
Applications will be accepted at the Women and Family Affairs Division of Goheung County Office from April 27 to June 5. Eligibility criteria and detailed application procedures can be found in the notices section on the official Goheung County website.
An official from the Women and Family Affairs Division stated, "Ultimately, the future of Goheung will be determined by its people," adding, "We will create a virtuous cycle in which outstanding talents who gain experience on the world stage return to Goheung, enhance the competitiveness of local industries, and drive regional growth."
