The Yeonsu Happiness Sports Center has been established at 581-2 Yeonsu-dong, Yeonsu-gu, Incheon.
On April 23, Yeonsu-gu held a completion ceremony for the Yeonsu Happiness Sports Center, attended by District Mayor Lee Jaeho, Incheon City Council members, Yeonsu-gu Council members, and local residents.
The center was built with a total project cost of 19.3 billion won, featuring four above-ground floors and a total floor area of 2,902 square meters. Facilities include a swimming pool (25 meters, six lanes, and a children's pool), a fitness center, a multipurpose gymnasium, as well as a rooftop artificial turf and jogging track.
The district also developed a grass plaza and parking lot on the remaining site, creating an open space where all residents can conveniently enjoy sports and leisure activities.
Initially, the district planned to build the Yeonsu Cultural and Arts Center. However, due to practical constraints such as increased project costs and additional administrative procedures, the project direction was shifted to a sports facility, resulting in the creation of the Yeonsu Happiness Sports Center. Notably, the center was selected for the National Sports Center funding program, securing 3 billion won in national funding and thereby reducing the financial burden.
After trial operations and a pilot opening, the district plans to officially open the center in July.
District Mayor Lee stated, "Despite challenging circumstances, we were able to complete construction without delay by working together with residents to find solutions. I expect the Yeonsu Happiness Sports Center will contribute not only to improving residents' health, but also to strengthening the city's competitiveness by expanding sports infrastructure."
