Jungnang-gu Launches "Partner Park Golf Academy" for the Disabled

Pilot Program Expanded This Year

Mentors and Mentees Pair Up to Share Skills and Experience

Jungnang-gu, Seoul will officially operate the "Disabled Partner Park Golf Academy" to promote sports for the disabled.

Jungnang-gu (headed by Mayor Ryu Kyunggi) announced on April 23 that, based on the three-month pilot program for disabled park golf held last year, the academy will be fully launched this year.

The academy pairs existing participants (mentors) with new participants (mentees) to share park golf techniques and experience. The goal is to expand participation in sports for the disabled, foster a sense of community, and establish a sustainable foundation for ongoing physical activity.

During last year's pilot program, 22 people participated, including 12 mentors and 10 mentees. This year, both the number of participants and the duration have increased, with approximately 30 disabled individuals taking part. The program runs about 40 times from April 6 to December 28, every Monday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Jungnang-gu Public Park Golf Course. The curriculum covers learning the basics of park golf, understanding game rules, and practice-based training.

The program is managed by the Jungnang-gu Sports Association for the Disabled, with cooperation from the Jungnang-gu Facilities Management Corporation. The corporation provides support such as course reservations and equipment, while the Sports Association assigns sports instructors for safety management and program operation. Since March, the Jungnang-gu Public Park Golf Course has also been open at night.

Jungnang-gu Mayor Ryu Kyunggi stated, "I hope that people with disabilities can interact and grow together through sports activities," adding, "We will continue to create a robust environment where anyone can participate on an ongoing basis."
