Hanwha Aerospace Supports Book Purchases for Small Libraries in Population-Declining Areas of Gyeongnam Province

Five Libraries Selected in Goseong, Namhae, Miryang, Hadong, and Hamyang

Hanwha Aerospace has begun supporting "small libraries" in an effort to address cultural deprivation in population-declining areas of Gyeongnam Province.

On April 21, Hanwha Aerospace visited the "Books Love Small Library" in Goseong County, Gyeongnam Province, and donated 15 million won to be used for book purchases.

The initiative aims to supplement the relatively limited reading infrastructure compared to large cities, provide a quality reading environment for local residents, children, and adolescents, and reduce imbalances in educational and cultural opportunities among different regions.

Hanwha Aerospace, in consultation with Gyeongnam Province and the Gyeongnam Provincial Library, selected five libraries as beneficiaries: Books Love Small Library in Goseong County, Mijo Lighthouse Keeper Small Library in Namhae County, Neulpureun Library in Miryang City, Firefly Small Library in Hamyang County, and Byeolcheonji Small Library in Hadong County.

These libraries will receive both new books that reflect the needs of local residents and financial support for book purchases.

A representative from Hanwha Aerospace stated, "We hope that small libraries will serve not just as spaces for reading, but as learning hubs where local residents, children, and adolescents can nurture their dreams and hopes. We will continue to show interest and support for enhancing cultural infrastructure in areas experiencing population decline and do our part to improve local living conditions."

Kang Soon-ik, Director of the Gyeongnam Provincial Library, commented, "I hope that this collaborative reading culture model, created by local communities and businesses together, will help vitalize small libraries. We will continue to promote policies that expand cultural opportunities for provincial residents."

In addition to this book donation, Hanwha Aerospace is pursuing various community engagement initiatives, including hosting a Jeju camp for youth with disabilities, supporting the remodeling of outdated military facilities, and delivering "Love Gurumi Car" and "Nareumi Car" mobility aids for elderly people with limited mobility.
