Shinkyeongju University (President Kim Junsu) fired the opening salvo for "regional development through media innovation" by signing a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for mutual growth and cooperation with Gyeongju Hwarang Village (Village Chief Son Jooyoung) on April 21.
This agreement ceremony went beyond a simple administrative procedure, serving as proof of how the university's cutting-edge academic resources can be integrated into the local community.

The highlight of the event was the screening of an AI-generated film created by students from the Department of AI Convergence Media Startups.
This film, produced using generative AI technology, left a strong impression on attendees and visually demonstrated the synergy that can arise when the university's technological capabilities are combined with the historical and cultural assets of Gyeongju.
Professor Raik Kwon, who was instrumental in achieving this partnership, is an expert in the domestic media and startup sectors and has led the dramatic growth of Shinkyeongju University's Department of AI Convergence Media Startups.
Professor Kwon goes beyond theory, guiding students to acquire practical skills such as video production and media entrepreneurship using AI, enabling them to apply these technologies immediately in the field.
He has continuously promoted projects that aim to transform Gyeongju's abundant tourism resources into AI-powered media content, thereby revitalizing the local economy.

Through this agreement, the two institutions pledged the following specific areas of cooperation.
The agreement covers: ▲university-local government cooperation (solving regional issues through an organic partnership), ▲infrastructure sharing (active exchange of facilities and educational programs), ▲youth support (AI media education and business promotion for youth based at Hwarang Village), and ▲advisory and support (providing expert consultation on major policies for regional development).
An official from the Department of AI Convergence Media Startups at Shinkyeongju University stated, "The passion shown by Professor Raik Kwon and the students is the embodiment of our university's goal to foster creative convergence talent," adding, "Through continued cooperation with Hwarang Village, we will achieve tangible results that enable young people to pursue their dreams in Gyeongju and bring vitality to the local community."
