Damyang County Begins Accepting Applications for 'High Oil Price Damage Support Fund'... Up to 600,000 Won

For Recipients of Basic Livelihood Support and the Bottom 70% Income Bracket

Damyang County in South Jeolla Province announced on April 22 that it will begin accepting applications for the “High Oil Price Damage Support Fund” starting April 27, in order to ease the economic burden on residents and small business owners struggling due to persistently high oil prices.

The support fund will be received in phases according to eligibility. The first phase runs from April 27 to May 8 for recipients of basic livelihood security, those in the near-poverty group, and single-parent households. The second phase runs from May 18 to July 3 and is open to those who did not apply in the first phase, as well as households in the bottom 70% income bracket.

Eligible recipients are residents whose address was registered in Damyang County as of March 30. A household is defined as those listed together on the household registration record. In principle, the fund is given only to citizens residing in Korea.

The amount distributed applies preferential criteria for areas with declining populations. Households receiving basic livelihood support will receive 600,000 won each, while those in the near-poverty, single-parent, or bottom 70% income group will each receive 200,000 won.

Recipients can choose to receive the fund as either credit/debit card points or Damyang Love Gift Certificates (mobile or paper type). The funds must be used by August 31; any unused balance will automatically expire after this date. Usage is limited to small businesses within the county with annual sales of 3 billion won or less and to Damyang Love Gift Certificate affiliated merchants.

A Damyang County official stated, “We hope this support will provide practical help to residents enduring a difficult period due to the prolonged high oil prices,” adding, “We will do our utmost to provide on-site guidance and publicity so that all eligible individuals can apply without omission.”

Meanwhile, Damyang County plans to continue developing and implementing customized policies to promote local consumption and revitalize the livelihoods of residents in conjunction with this support fund distribution.
