Sejong LLC Appoints Former Chief of Naval Operations Kim Jungsoo as Advisor

Strengthening Advisory Capabilities in National Defense, Maritime Policy, and the Defense Industry

On April 22, Sejong LLC announced that it has appointed Kim Jungsoo, former Chief of Naval Operations (retired admiral), as an advisor.

Advisor Kim, a graduate of the 41st class of the Korea Naval Academy, is an expert in the defense industry and military affairs with around 35 years of experience serving in the Navy, Joint Chiefs of Staff, Ministry of National Defense, and the Presidential Office. Notably, he served as the 35th Chief of Naval Operations from 2021 to 2022, overseeing the overall planning of naval capabilities and organizational operations.

During his service, Advisor Kim held key positions including captain of the 4,400-ton-class destroyer Kang Gamchan (DDH-II), Director of Military Policy at the Ministry of National Defense, Chief Secretary of the Navy Headquarters, Director of Test and Evaluation at the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Director of Planning and Management at the Navy Headquarters, and Deputy Chief of Naval Operations. While serving as Director of Planning and Management (Rear Admiral) at the Navy Headquarters, he successfully led major naval capability development projects such as the mid-sized submarine, next-generation frigate, Korean destroyer, and light aircraft carrier programs.

As a new member of the Sejong Defense and Military Team, Advisor Kim is expected to play an active role across a wide range of areas, including national defense and maritime policy, the defense industry, force development, and military-related issue response. Amidst the rapidly changing global security environment and the growing trend of K-defense exports, he is anticipated to provide companies with strategic approaches to address regulatory and policy risks.

The Sejong Defense and Military Team includes Kim Younghoon (37th class), a former inaugural Chief of the Air Force Prosecutor's Office; Advisor Lee Jaeik, an expert in defense budgeting and procurement; Advisor Kang Junghui, former Director of the Aircraft Project Division at the Defense Acquisition Program Administration; Attorney Jo Inhyeong (12th class), who has served for over 20 years in the Air Force and Defense Acquisition Program Administration; Attorney Shin Dongwook (13th class), who has experience as a military prosecutor, military judge, and head of legal affairs at the Naval Operations Command; Attorney Kim Sungjin (43rd class), who has served at the Ministry of National Defense, Defense Acquisition Program Administration, and Navy Logistics Command; as well as experts Shin Mincheol, Kim Donghyun, and Jang Seonggi, all of whom are former military prosecution investigators.
