[6.3 Election] Jeonnam Retired Teachers Endorse Kim Daejung: "Best Candidate for Integrated Superintendent"

1,341 retired teachers from Jeonnam have officially declared their support for Kim Daejung, a preliminary candidate running in the upcoming Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City Superintendent of Education election.

On the morning of April 22, the retired teachers from Jeonnam held a press conference at Kim Daejung’s campaign office, stating, "Kim Daejung is the only suitable candidate to firmly establish the foundation for the unified Jeonnam-Gwangju education administration, which is coming together for the first time in over 40 years, and to take full responsibility for the future of our children," thereby formalizing their endorsement.

They cited the following as the core reasons for supporting Kim: his leadership aligning with the spirit of the Jeonnam-Gwangju integration era, his vision and philosophy for future education, his proven educational achievements and administrative abilities, and his extensive experience spanning education, administration, and politics.

The retired teachers in attendance emphasized, "The 'Great Transformation of Jeonnam Education' that Kim has been spearheading is in line with the 'Great Transformation of Korea' pursued by the Lee Jaemyung administration," and added, "He is the most qualified candidate to bring new hope to the newly launched unified Jeonnam-Gwangju education system."

They also highlighted Kim’s past achievements, noting, "The successful hosting of the 2024 Korea Glocal Future Education Expo and the establishment of the '2030 Classroom' are representative outcomes proving his thorough preparation for future education," and evaluated him as "an individual equipped with a clear vision and strong execution for leading the era of AI-driven transformation."

Furthermore, they pointed out, "He has already demonstrated his capabilities through tangible achievements such as ranking first in the national superintendent job performance assessment, introducing the Jeonnam Student Education Allowance for the first time, and promoting glocal education. Notably, as a former dismissed teacher from the Korean Teachers and Education Workers' Union, he possesses a deep understanding of the education field. In addition, his outstanding administrative experience as superintendent and chief of staff, as well as his verified political acumen from serving three terms as a Mokpo City Council member and council chair, further set him apart."

The retired teachers appealed for support, saying, "Kim Daejung is a warm and communicative leader who sincerely listens to the voices of the frontline education community and will lead grand integration. We hope that everyone will unite their strength behind Kim, who has verified abilities, integrity, and a clear vision for the future."
