Donghae City in Gangwon Province (Mayor Shim Gyueon) and Hallym University (President Choi Yanghee) announced that they will operate the 'Hallym G-Lab@Donghae Regional Linked Practical AI Education Program' tailored to job characteristics for public administration and local industry workers. The program will be held at the Donghae City Youth Center and the Bukpyeong Industrial Complex Multipurpose Culture Center.
Previously, in January, the city conducted a basic AI utilization course to strengthen participants' foundational AI skills. Starting in April, the program will be further advanced by adding an advanced course and an AI media utilization course to the existing basic curriculum.
This program will be operated a total of four times from April to July. The curriculum consists of basic AI utilization and AI media utilization courses, divided into basic and advanced levels, allowing participants to select and attend courses according to their proficiency.
In particular, the advanced AI utilization course will focus on enhancing practical applicability by differentiating the curriculum to reflect the job characteristics of workers in the administrative sector and industrial companies.
All courses are offered completely free of charge, and participants are selected on a first-come, first-served basis according to the quota for each course. Applications can be submitted via the QR code on the promotional poster in line with the training schedule. Future training schedules and recruitment information will be announced on the city hall website and on bulletin boards of relevant institutions.
The upcoming May session will be held for three days from May 12 to May 14. Registration will be open for eight days from May 1 to May 8. Further details regarding registration will be announced later through the city hall website and relevant institution bulletin boards.
Lee Sunwoo, Director of Planning and Budget, stated, "In a rapidly changing digital environment, AI competency is an essential survival strategy for both the public and private sectors," adding, "This practical, hands-on training will provide real support for work innovation in the public sector and local industries."
