The Softear Bootcamp is an approximately eight-week recruitment-linked training program operated by Hyundai Motor Company and Kia for software talent acquisition. The term 'Softear' is a combination of 'software' and 'engineer,' signifying pioneers in the field of automotive software.

Hyundai Motor Company and Kia are shifting this training program to an AI-centric approach, structuring the projects within the program to utilize AI tools, and aiming to cultivate AI specialist engineers. In line with the trend of AI Transformation (AX), they intend to provide more people with opportunities to strengthen their AI application capabilities and help them quickly adapt to real-world work environments upon employment.

The 8th cohort is accepting applications in a total of three areas: backend development, data engineering and architecture, and service planning. Eligible applicants are students who have graduated or are expected to graduate from a domestic or overseas four-year university (bachelor’s degree or higher) between February this year and February next year.

Candidates will be selected through an online assessment, personality test, and interview to identify those with basic competencies and knowledge in the relevant fields. Trainees will gain hands-on experience with the actual development process through theoretical instruction and team-based projects, and learn how to apply AI within a corporate environment.

Additionally, participants can enhance their practical skills through job-specific meet-ups and one-on-one mentoring sessions with industry professionals. Those who complete the training program will also be given the opportunity for a final interview for entry-level recruitment.

Jin Eun-sook, President of ICT at Hyundai Motor Company and Kia, stated, "Our goal is to nurture AI engineers who will drive innovation in the mobility service ecosystem," adding, "We plan to strengthen the selection process and program in line with the latest trends and fulfill our social responsibility by cultivating high-quality talent."
