Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority (President Choi Gwanho, hereinafter referred to as the Authority) announced that it attracted a new regular container liner service and held a commemorative event at Gwangyang Port Container Terminal on April 21.
This new service is the 'PEARL AS1 Pendulum Service' operated by CMA CGM (France), a major long-haul route connecting Asia and North America in a pendulum pattern. An 8,000 TEU-class vessel will call at Gwangyang Port once a week under this service.

The event was attended by the CEO of CMA CGM Korea Co., Ltd., the CEO of Korea International Terminal, and executives and employees of the port authority, who expressed their gratitude and presented commemorative plaques and gifts to the captain and crew.
The Authority has been conducting targeted marketing to CMA CGM Asia Pacific office (Singapore) to address the inconvenience experienced by Gwangyang Port customers due to a lack of regular liner sailings and insufficient long-haul services. With the introduction of this new liner service, the Authority expects to further strengthen the port's connectivity.
In addition, the Authority expects the new service to generate approximately 100,000 TEU of additional cargo throughput annually, which will make a significant contribution to revitalizing Gwangyang Port in the future.
The detailed port rotation for the new service is as follows: Gwangyang, Qingdao (China), Shanghai, Ningbo, Shekou, Singapore (Singapore), Nhava Sheva (India), Mundra, Karachi (Pakistan), Colombo (Sri Lanka), Singapore (Singapore), Haiphong (Vietnam), Xiamen (China), Nansha, Yantian, Los Angeles (United States), and Gwangyang.
President Choi Gwanho of the Authority stated, "The selection of Gwangyang Port as a key hub by global shipping company CMA CGM signifies that Gwangyang Port is no longer just a regional port, but has established itself as a core hub connecting global supply chains. The Authority will continue to do its utmost to create a port environment where shipping line customers can use Gwangyang Port without inconvenience."
