Last month, the district revised the "Ordinance on Support for Families with Disabilities in Dongjak-gu, Seoul," establishing a legal framework for the program. The plan is to build a sustainable support system covering the entire childcare process, rather than offering one-time assistance.

Eligible recipients are families who have been registered residents of Dongjak-gu for at least one year, where either the person with a disability or their spouse has a child aged between 2 and under 7 years old. From the month of application until the month before the child turns 7, each eligible child will receive a monthly allowance of 100,000 won.

Applications can be submitted in person at the local community center with the required documents, including an ID, a copy of the bankbook, and a certificate of resident registration, by December 31 of this year. If the applicant has difficulty moving, a direct blood relative or sibling of the person with a disability may apply on their behalf. The district office will review the disability registration and eligibility, and the allowance will be deposited into the recipient's account on the 25th of each month. For more information, contact the Welfare Division for Persons with Disabilities at Dongjak-gu Office (02-820-9125).

District Mayor Park Ilha stated, "This project was introduced to help families with disabilities maintain a stable daily life within the local community," adding, "We will continue to build Dongjak-gu into a place where no one is left behind through comprehensive welfare policies."
