Prior to the introduction of the QR Code system, construction notices posted at public building construction sites were often left unchanged without updates, providing only limited information that did not reflect any changes.
The QR Code guidance system introduced by the city is attached to the temporary fences at construction sites.
By scanning the QR code with a smartphone, citizens can access a variety of real-time information, including basic details of the construction, progress stages, current status, and on-site photos.
The city expects that by providing updates on the progress of each stage and visual materials, as well as transparently releasing information about public building construction sites, citizens’ understanding of the construction work will increase.
A Yongin City official stated, “Switching from the previous construction notices, which had limitations in information delivery, to a digital guidance method using QR codes has strengthened transparency and accountability in public construction projects. We will continue to expand information disclosure and communication across all public construction projects and strive to establish open administration based on citizen participation, so that we can build dignified public buildings.”
