Extension Possibility: "I Don't Want to Do That"

U.S. President Donald Trump expressed optimism about the possibility of reaching a deal ahead of the second ceasefire negotiations with Iran on April 21 (local time), stating, "In the end, we will make a great agreement."

President Trump made these remarks during a phone interview with CNBC on the same day, saying, "In my opinion, they have no other choice." He added, "I believe we are in a very advantageous negotiating position to accomplish what other U.S. presidents should have done over the past 47 years."

Regarding the possibility of extending the ceasefire with Iran, President Trump drew a line by saying, "I don't want to do that." The United States and Iran agreed to a "two-week ceasefire" on the 7th. Although the original deadline for the ceasefire was considered to be April 21, President Trump announced the previous day that the ceasefire deadline with Iran would be until the evening of April 22 Eastern Time (morning of April 23 Korea time).

Meanwhile, on this day, just before the ceasefire deadline, the United States and Iran are scheduled to attempt a second ceasefire negotiation in Islamabad, Pakistan. The U.S. delegation will be led by Vice President JD Vance. The Iranian delegation is expected to be headed by Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of the Iranian Parliament.
