The Ministry of Education and the Korea Education Environment Protection Agency will hold the “2026 Kindergarten Meal Field Communication Team Joint Workshop” on April 22, 2026.
Since 2023, the Ministry of Education has been operating the “Kindergarten Meal Field Communication Team” to promote a field-oriented kindergarten meal policy. The team includes kindergarten principals, nutrition teachers, nutritionists, parents, and officials in charge of meal services at metropolitan and provincial offices of education.
This joint workshop is designed to bring together members of the communication team to deepen understanding of kindergarten meal services, share operational cases from local offices of education, discuss challenges faced in the field through group discussions, and develop ideas for improvement. The workshop will feature a presentation from the Gyeongsangbuk-do Office of Education on supporting improvements to kindergarten meal environments-one of the main issues raised in the field-and a presentation from the Gyeonggi-do Office of Education on supporting nutrition and dietary education for young children.
Additionally, through group discussions, participants will share a variety of meal service operation cases from different regions, discuss challenges encountered in the field, and seek practical solutions, providing an opportunity for meaningful communication.
Kang Minkyu, Director General of the Early Childhood Policy Bureau, stated, “Based on the valuable opinions proposed by the field communication team, we will develop practical support policies and work closely with metropolitan and provincial offices of education to continue promoting a kindergarten meal policy that reflects voices from the field.”
