Buckingham Palace did not clarify which particular issues Charles III was referring to. The Daily Telegraph and The Times interpreted his remarks as hinting at international affairs, including the wars in the Middle East and Ukraine, as well as domestic issues such as social cohesion.
King Charles III is scheduled to make a state visit to the United States from April 27 to 30, where he will meet with U.S. President Donald Trump. Some interpret his message as relating to the U.S.'s involvement in the Iran war. Previously, Buckingham Palace announced that Charles III would address the "challenges" faced by the United Kingdom, the United States, and their allies in his speech to the U.S. Congress.
On this day, Charles III referred to his mother as "darling mama," and paid tribute by saying, "My beloved mother will remain in our hearts forever."
Queen Elizabeth II, born on April 21, 1926, ascended to the throne in 1952 at the age of 25 and reigned for 70 years until her passing in September 2022 at the age of 96. Charles III, the eldest son of Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, was born at Buckingham Palace on November 14, 1948.
