Yeongam-gun to Fully Launch "Customized Major Education Linked to Regional Industries"

Yeongam-gun in South Jeolla Province has launched customized education programs linked to local industries. The county announced that it will fully implement the "2026 Customized Major Education Linked to Regional Industries" as part of the Special Education Development Zone project.

In March, through a public contest for local elementary and middle school students, Yeongam selected Sehan University as the implementing institution. The county also signed business agreements with five middle schools in the region and completed preparations for the program.

This education program moves beyond theory-based instruction and will be run by combining on-site experiences and practical training. The main programs include: ▲ Shipbuilding and Automotive Industry Experience ▲ Smart Agriculture Education ▲ Basic Science and Digital Transformation (DX) Education, among others.

Students are expected to explore career paths by directly experiencing the region’s key industries and to strengthen the foundational skills needed for future industries.

Choi Bok-yong, Director of the Talent Development and Sports Department at Yeongam-gun, stated, "Through education linked to local industries, students will be able to design more concrete career paths," adding, "We will continue to build an educational environment that grows together with the region."

Meanwhile, Yeongam-gun plans to further expand its practical talent development model that connects industry and education through the Special Education Development Zone project.
