The Daegu Metropolitan Government announced on April 21 that it will begin recruiting "Local Tax Revenue Delinquency Management Surveyors" by district and county starting from May 6, aiming to achieve a threefold policy effect: realizing tax justice, creating public jobs, and identifying welfare blind spots.
The Delinquency Management Team will consist of fixed-term employees who will visit the addresses of delinquent taxpayers and conduct phone consultations to assess their living conditions and ability to pay.
For livelihood-based delinquents, Daegu plans to alleviate their tax burden through installment payments and deferments, while also linking households in welfare crisis to appropriate welfare services, thereby ensuring a comprehensive tax administration system.
Additionally, by integrating the management of local taxes and non-tax revenue delinquencies, the city aims to improve collection efficiency. Based on the survey results, Daegu will further classify types of delinquency and conduct customized collection activities tailored to each group.
A total of 90 positions will be recruited, divided into roles for phone consultation surveyors and on-site visit surveyors. Any Daegu citizen over the age of 18, who is highly responsible and able to devote themselves fully to their duties during the contract period, is eligible to apply.
Phone consultation surveyors will handle phone consultations, complete survey reports, and manage various statistical tasks, while on-site visit surveyors will be responsible for in-person consultations, survey report preparation, and assisting with the disposition of delinquencies.
The selection process will begin with the recruitment announcement on May 6, followed by document screening and interviews. Those finally selected will complete job training and will be deployed to the field from July 6 until November.
Oh Junhyeok, policy chief of Daegu Metropolitan Government, stated, "Operating the Delinquency Management Team is an exemplary policy that simultaneously achieves public job creation, the realization of tax justice, and the alleviation of welfare blind spots," adding, "We hope that citizens who possess a strong sense of duty and expertise will actively apply for the surveyor positions."
Meanwhile, details such as the number of positions available by district and county and working conditions will be available on each district and county office website from May 6.
