Icheon City in Gyeonggi Province announced on April 21 that it is recruiting participants for the second cohort of the "Gyeonggi Youth Ladder Program in Icheon City" (operated by the Pyeongtaek University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation) to provide local youth with global experiences.
The program is open to youth aged 19 to 34 who are registered residents of Icheon City as of the announcement date, and who have no disqualifying reasons for overseas study.
The program will be held at the University of Sydney in Australia for three weeks, from August 10 to August 28, 2026. Participants are scheduled to depart on August 8 and return on August 29.
The selection process consists of a first-round document review and a second-round interview. During the document review, applicants will be assessed based on their study plans and personal statements, with an emphasis on their potential for growth. Preference will be given to basic livelihood security recipients, lower-income groups (within 50% of the median income), youth with disabilities, youth preparing for self-reliance, youth with lower education levels (high school diploma or below), and those without overseas experience, in order to expand participation opportunities for these groups.
Those wishing to apply can submit their applications online through the "Jobaba Apply" platform from April 22 to 6:00 p.m. on May 6, 2026.
The final selected participants will receive full support for major expenses, including overseas university training fees, airfare, and accommodation costs.
Icheon City aims to provide young people with opportunities to enhance their individual capabilities and ultimately grow into global talents who can contribute to the development of the local community through this program.
