Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) is accelerating efforts to enhance the competitiveness of the aerospace industry ecosystem by raising funds of around 30 billion won to support facility investments for its partner companies and strengthen mutual cooperation.
KAI announced on the 21st that it held a "Management Briefing Session for Partner Companies" at its headquarters in Sacheon, Gyeongsangnam-do, on the 20th, where it shared strategies for mutual growth and future business directions with its partners.
The event was attended by President Kim Jongchul, Kim Taehyung, head of the manufacturing council-a consultative body for partner companies-and approximately 80 representatives from 58 partner firms. The attendees reviewed last year’s achievements and discussed future strategies for mutual growth.
On this day, KAI announced plans to strengthen its partner support programs, ranging from financial assistance to enhanced welfare, and presented measures to help the aerospace industry take off again by boosting production capabilities and order competitiveness. In particular, the company outlined plans to expand its future business portfolio across all areas, including fixed-wing, rotary-wing, unmanned aerial vehicles, and satellites.
KAI also pledged to establish a stable supply system in response to the recovery of the global commercial aircraft market and to support innovation activities aimed at enhancing partners’ productivity, reducing costs, and improving quality.
To this end, KAI will continue its low-interest loan program to support investments in expensive equipment by securing funds of approximately 30 billion won. In addition, the company will contribute an extra 2.2 billion won this year to its mutual cooperation fund-on top of the existing 10 billion won-to support the establishment of productivity improvement infrastructure.
Welfare support for employees of partner companies will also be expanded. The joint labor welfare fund, which was increased from 1 billion won to 2 billion won, will be maintained at the same level this year.
President Kim Jongchul stated, "The current status of Korea’s defense industry is the result of our joint achievements with partner companies," and added, "We will make every effort to enhance the overall competitiveness of the aerospace ecosystem amid intensifying global competition."
Kim Taehyung, chairman of the manufacturing council, also remarked, "We will establish a competitive production system through productivity and quality innovation."
Prior to the briefing session, KAI held a separate event to share accomplishments with its partners and awarded certificates of excellence and outstanding partner recognition to 14 companies with notable achievements in production and quality innovation.
