Former South Korean national soccer team coach Huh Jung-moo is working to establish a professional soccer team based in Seo-gu, Incheon.
At a press conference held at Incheon City Hall on the 21st, Huh stated, "We are preparing to establish the Incheon Seo-gu professional soccer team to secure the future of Korean soccer and to nurture young and talented players."
He emphasized, "Seo-gu has a 50,000-seat multi-purpose stadium (Asiad Stadium) that has been left underutilized since hosting the 2014 Asian Games due to a lack of sports content. Establishing a soccer team will fundamentally address the issue of the stadium's neglect while maximizing its value by creating regular sporting events. Based on the Asiad Stadium, we will foster youth players and build an excellent team."

Kang Bum-seok, Mayor of Seo-gu, Incheon, who attended the press conference, commented on the budget issue, stating, "It is common for professional soccer teams to be founded as foundations, but in such cases, the financial burden on local governments becomes too great. Therefore, we are considering a corporate structure with private sector participation."
