PwC Consulting will hold an emergency expert roundtable meeting in response to the postponement of the public release of the artificial intelligence (AI) model, Mythos.
PwC Consulting announced that, in cooperation with Assemblyman Yoo Dongsoo of the National Assembly’s Political Affairs Committee from the Democratic Party of Korea, it will host an emergency expert roundtable on April 23 at 10 a.m. in the Sapphire Hall on the 2nd floor of the FKI Tower Conference Center in Yeouido, Seoul. The event, titled “The Frontier AI 'Mythos' Public Release Delay Incident and National & Corporate Cyber Crisis Response Strategies,” will focus on the recent postponement and its implications for national and corporate cybersecurity strategies.
Recently, the U.S.-based AI company Anthropic decided not to release its latest AI model, "Claude Mythos Preview," to the public. The company determined that the model’s ability to detect security vulnerabilities and identify possible attack vectors could have a significant impact on public safety, and therefore opted against public release.
A PwC Consulting official stated, "The roundtable will feature wide-ranging discussions focusing on the issues raised by the Mythos case."
The roundtable will begin with an opening address by Honggi Moon, CEO of PwC Consulting, followed by welcoming remarks from Assemblyman Yoo Dongsoo. Sangkeun Lee, professor at Korea University, will deliver the keynote presentation, outlining the technical and security shifts driven by frontier AI technologies.
During the panel discussion, Janghyuk Choi, Chair of the SamilPwC AI Trust Committee and former Vice Chairperson of the Personal Information Protection Commission, will serve as the moderator. The panel will conduct an in-depth discussion on the technical and security issues raised by the Mythos case and the challenges facing both the nation and corporations as AI-driven cyber threats continue to grow.
Panelists include Jongin Lim, advisor at Kim & Chang; Seongyeop Lee, professor at the Graduate School of Technology Management at Korea University; Nakjun Ko, Director of Prevention and Coordination at the Personal Information Protection Commission; Jeongkyu Lim, Director of the Network Policy Bureau at the Ministry of Science and ICT; Youngjun Yoo, Director of Digital Finance Policy at the Financial Services Commission; Junghyo Oh, Head of AI and Strategy at Korea Financial Security Institute; Sangkeun Lee, Director of the AI Security Research Institute at Korea University; Jeonghee Cheon, professor at Seoul National University’s Department of Mathematical Sciences and CEO of Cryptolab; Youngshin Song, Executive Director (CISO) at Shinhan Bank; Kwanhee Hong, Executive Vice President (CISO) at LG Uplus; Hyunchoo Park, Executive Director at PwC Consulting; and Daehwan Kim, CEO of Somansa.
Hyunchoo Park, Leader of Risk & Cyber Services at PwC Consulting, said, "As AI technology reaches a stage where even the decision to release it publicly must be considered a risk, simple discussions about technological utilization are no longer sufficient. I hope this roundtable will serve as a starting point for establishing response standards required across policy, regulatory, and industry sectors and for determining the future direction."
