On April 21, Jang Donghyuk, leader of the People Power Party, commented on President Lee Jaemyung's defense of Unification Minister Jeong Dongyoung, who has been embroiled in controversy over allegations of leaking U.S.-provided confidential information. Jang stated, "He has chosen a pro-North Korea and Korea-China alliance over the South Korea-U.S. alliance."
Jang, through a post on his social networking service (SNS) account earlier this morning titled "Lee Jaemyung's Decision to Break Up with America," wrote, "Trump asks, 'The South Korea-U.S. alliance? Or the South Korea-China alliance?'" He continued, "Lee Jaemyung answers, 'A pro-North Korea Korea-China alliance!'"
Jang also posted a photo featuring former U.S. President Donald Trump with the word "FAFO" written on it. FAFO is an internet slang acronym for "Fuck Around and Find Out," meaning "you'll get in trouble if you mess around."
Earlier, on March 6, Minister Jeong attended a full session of the National Assembly's Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee, where he mentioned North Korea's nuclear facilities. Recently, as the U.S. has restricted the sharing of satellite and signal intelligence on North Korea with South Korea, criticism has emerged that Minister Jeong's remarks were the cause of this restriction.
In response, President Lee argued via SNS, "All claims and actions premised on the idea that Minister Jeong leaked confidential information provided by the U.S. are wrong," adding, "The existence of these nuclear facilities is an undeniable fact already widely known internationally through various academic papers and media reports."
Previously, Jang also stated, "The U.S. restriction on sharing intelligence about North Korea is not just a minor complaint," diagnosing, "It shows a clear distrust of the Lee Jaemyung administration, and it is a clear warning that maintaining the South Korea-U.S. alliance will be difficult under these circumstances."
