On April 21, Shinhan Card announced that it will enhance customer convenience by providing comprehensive services related to the 'High Oil Price Relief Fund' (hereinafter referred to as the relief fund), from guidance and application to usage, starting from the 27th.
Shinhan Card has introduced a 'Helpful Tips for Assisting Parents with Applications' service to support elderly customers in applying for the relief fund. Children can send application instructions to their parents via KakaoTalk or text message. The service is designed to help users easily understand only the key information, such as the required documents, application hours, and methods (phone, in-person, smartphone) depending on the application channel.
The 'Find High Oil Price Relief Fund Locations' map service is also available on Shinhan SOL Pay. In addition to searching by merchant name, the service displays affiliated merchants within a 500-meter radius of the user's current location where the relief fund can be used. For example, if a user searches for restaurants or cafes in Euljiro, Jung-gu, Seoul, the map filters merchants by business type and displays only those where the relief fund is accepted, along with details such as merchant addresses and phone numbers.
Applications can be submitted 24 hours a day through the Shinhan SOL Pay app, the website, and a dedicated customer service center. Especially for customers aged 65 and older, 24-hour assistance from customer service representatives will be available starting from the 27th. Applications can also be made at Shinhan Bank branches nationwide.
Customers whose address is registered in Seoul or Suwon can receive the relief fund immediately as an anonymous prepaid card by visiting their local administrative welfare center, even without a separate credit or debit card. When using the relief fund with their existing credit or debit card, benefits such as discounts, point accumulation, and recognition of prior monthly performance remain unchanged.
Various promotional events have also been prepared to ensure that the relief fund leads to increased sales for small merchants and revitalization of the local economy. To encourage the use of the relief fund at neighborhood businesses, the 'Happy Receipt in Our Neighborhood' event will be held. Customers who register for the event by the end of June and spend a cumulative amount of at least 100,000 won at small and medium-sized merchants using their personal credit or debit card will be entered into a draw, with a total of 3,111 winners receiving prizes.
An event in conjunction with the Companion Festival will also be held. Customers who register for the event by the end of May and spend at least 500,000 won domestically will be entered into a draw to select 1,111 winners, each of whom will receive up to 100,000 won off their purchase amount.
During the same period, Shinhan Card is also running an event that offers an additional cashback benefit of up to 20,000 won (10,000 won in April and 10,000 won in May, each capped per month), equivalent to 3% of the amount spent on fuel purchases of 50,000 won or more with the Shinhan Card Deep Oil and Shinhan Card RPM+ Platinum# cards, in addition to the existing card benefits such as reward points and discounts.
A Shinhan Card representative stated, "We will actively participate in the government's livelihood support project to help overcome the high oil price crisis and strive to support local small business owners and the daily lives of our citizens by providing various benefits."
