The Yeongdeungpo-gu Future Education Foundation (Chairman Yoo Jin-hyun) announced that it will be accepting applications for participants in the "Domestic Aerospace Camp," which will be held for two days and one night from June 12, starting from the 21st until the 27th.

While it was originally only for students, since the second half of last year, it has been expanded into a family camp where guardians can participate together.
On the first day, participating families will experience an AI convergence career exploration program and nighttime celestial observation at the National Gwangju Science Center. On the second day, they will visit the Naro Space Center, South Korea’s first space launch site, and the Naro Space Science Museum, and attend a special lecture by an expert from the Korea Aerospace Research Institute.
The camp is open to 5th and 6th grade elementary school students residing in Yeongdeungpo-gu and their guardians. A total of 15 teams, consisting of two members each, will be selected. Applications can be submitted through the "Integrated Reservation" system on the district office’s website. Final participants will be chosen through a computer-generated random drawing, regardless of the order of applications. Last year’s camp recorded a competition rate of 5 to 1.
The foundation also operates an "Overseas Aerospace Camp" for middle school students. For the overseas camp recruitment held in March, 187 applicants competed for 30 spots, resulting in a competition rate of 6 to 1. The selected participants will visit the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) and other organizations in Japan this July.
A foundation official said, "We hope this will be a meaningful experience for families to visit the site that witnessed the launch of the Naro rocket and inspire dreams of space exploration. We will continue to expand beneficial programs so that youths can enjoy and experience science."
