The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education will promote the 'school complex facility' project in Uijeongbu and Seongnam during the first half of this year. School complex facilities are a core policy project of the Ministry of Education, aiming to establish environments for education and care and serve as hubs for regional integration.
The provincial office plans to construct a large-scale school complex facility, with a total investment of 58.5 billion won, on a site adjacent to Sampyeong Middle School in Seongnam (725 Sampyeong-dong), which will include a swimming pool, public library, and cultural spaces.
Additionally, two idle classroom buildings at Gosan Elementary School in Uijeongbu will be refurbished to create a school complex facility. A total of 1 billion won will be invested to establish a lifelong learning facility equipped with a multipurpose room, shared kitchen, and creative studio.
An official from the provincial office stated, "Through close cooperation with local governments, we plan to further expand education and care facilities by linking school complex facilities with shared schools, special educational development zones, and integrated early childhood education and care-key tasks of education reform."
Going forward, the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education plans to construct regionally customized school complex facilities based on local demand analyses, supporting educational activities for students and schools, and continuously improving the residential environment for local residents by providing and utilizing educational, cultural, welfare, and sports facilities.
