People Power Party Gyeongnam Finalizes Candidates for Sacheon, Yangsan, and Goseong ... Uiryeong Transferred to Central Party, Geochang to Hold New Primary

The Gyeongnam Provincial Candidate Nomination Committee of the People Power Party held a meeting on April 20 and finalized the preliminary candidates for Sacheon Mayor, Yangsan Mayor, and Goseong County Governor for the 9th Nationwide Local Elections.

According to the provincial nomination committee, the candidate for Sacheon Mayor is the incumbent Mayor Park Dongsik, the candidate for Yangsan Mayor is the incumbent Mayor Na Dongyeon, and the candidate for Goseong County Governor is the former governor Ha Hakyeol.

In addition, the provincial nomination committee decided to transfer the nomination process for the Uiryeong County Governor candidate to the Central Party Nomination Committee.

During the primary process, suspicions of leaked party member lists regarding some candidates delayed the announcement of results for the Geochang County Governor primary. The committee has decided to nullify the previous primary and conduct a new one.

The re-run will be held with the remaining preliminary candidates, Koo Inmo and Kim Ilsu, excluding the candidates involved in the party member list leak.

The provincial committee also announced plans to take disciplinary action, including expelling the secretary-general of the party association, in connection with the leakage of the party member list.
